A sunlit NAMM 2019 at the Anaheim Convention Center, California, was alive with the sound of SL-Series. The d&b audiotechnik demo room and booth was bustling with people ready to hear more about the newest member of the SL-Series, the KSL System.
The launch was another milestone for d&b, an applied evolution that marks the next step in a company obsession with directivity control and offering democracy for listeners.
NAMM was the opportune platform for the music, sound and event technology communities to connect, and was the perfect place to introduce KSL to over one hundred thousand industry professionals.
KSL embodies the same technical innovation and performance capabilities of its ground-breaking big sister, GSL, launched in 2018 at Prolight + Sound, Germany. Featuring all the recognizable benefits of its Special Loudspeaker lineage KSL provides full broadband directivity control, an extended LF response, and advanced rigging options all wholly aligned with the d&b Workflow.
Joining KSL at the d&b booth was a selection of products from the truly comprehensive d&b portfolio, including the flyable SL-SUB, with two forward facing 21” drivers and a single, rear facing 21” for cardioid dispersion in the low end. Also on the booth was the highly flexible Y-Series, and industry favorites E12, T10, xC column loudspeaker, M4, and an open V7P – revealing the true nature of this multi award winning point source. The well-bred D80 amplifier was also present, the full potential of which was explored at the d&b Workflow island. Taking users comfortably through design and optimization to control, the integrated workflow is a trusted accomplice for realizing the full potential of system and user alike.
As well as hearing KSL for the first time, guests had the opportunity to attend daily d&b demos including “The d&b Soundscape experienced,” an insightful theory, practice, and listening session. With the DS100 Signal engine at its heart, Soundscape is something of a creative portal in the d&b Workflow, for realizing more natural source positioning, easing every day audio challenges, or creating works of pure imagination.
The “Evolution: a journey with d&b” session enabled visitors to join the d&b team on a journey exploring the benefits and scalability of d&b systems, looking particularly at the technological trajectory of d&b products and software that has led to the inauguration of KSL into the portfolio.
NAMM was a great opportunity for d&b to showcase the next step in the evolution with the SL-Series, and gave d&b the chance to connect with a broad range of customers and partners in person, driving discussions about exciting future projects.
