The 2015 Pro Sound Awards has named Sports Technology and d&b Team of the Year for Best Temporary Installation Project. The award was decided by a panel of judges from across the pro audio industry and given in recognition of the extensive audio achievement at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Presented by Pro Sound News Europe, the winners were announced at the Ministry of Sound on September 24th.
Sports Technology leads the way with comprehensive AV solutions for major multidisciplinary sporting events, including Sochi Winter Olympics and London 2012. Working with specialist audio supplier and d&b Partner, Dimension, the decision to use d&b systems was based on longstanding experience. Director of Sports Technology, Damian Rowe: “We always choose d&b for this type of job because, quite simply, they are the best products available. The combination of power, processing and control you get from the wide range of systems is unsurpassed.”
As Official Provider of Large Video Screens and Audio Services for Glasgow 2014, Sports Technology was tasked with providing the entire audio and video overlay. The remit included all non-broadcast facilities, as well as systems for press conferences and other peripheral events. Across more than twenty venues they supplied more than nine hundred loudspeakers and two hundred and eighty amplifiers. “Our specification ranged from using tiny, unobtrusive E-Series, through to opting for the Q and T-Series for some of the myriad venues, up to utilizing the power of the D80 amplifiers and the J-Series for, what was probably our most challenging location, the Hydro,” said Rowe. “It’s also nigh on impossible to quantify just how much time, money and man-hours ArrayCalc saved for us.”
