The d&b audiotechnik Y-Series has been named, Best Concert Sound Product by The Pro Light + Sound International Press Award (PIPA). The accolade was decided by a voting community of over a hundred journalists working in the pro AV industry and announced in April during the trade show.
Launched in September 2014, the Y-Series has quickly proven itself a versatile solution for small to mid sized applications, including theatres, concert halls, conference centres, churches, clubs and auditoriums. Comprising point source and line array loudspeakers, together with dedicated subwoofers, the Series is fully equipped to fulfill mobile and installation requirements.
All Y-Series cabinets house two 8” low frequency drivers and a 1.4” compression driver. With 90° rotatable horns, the lightweight Y7P and Y10P point source loudspeakers offer horizontal dispersion angles of 75° and 110° respectively and ensure horizontal directivity control down to 500 Hz. The Y8 and Y12 line array modules feature integrated three point rigging and deliver, in turn, 80° and 120° horizontal dispersion, with a frequency response extending from 54 Hz to 19 kHz. For low end reinforcement, the omnidirectional B6-SUB employs a single 18” driver with extended excursion capabilities and is intended for ground stacked deployment, while the cardioid Y-SUB provides arrayable support.
The Y-Series Yi loudspeakers are specifically designed for permanent integration and differ only in cabinet construction and mounting hardware. All Y-Series cabinets feature an impact resistant paint finish and are available with Weather Resistant and Special Colour options.
On receiving the award Werner ‘Vier’ Bayer, Product Manager at d&b commented: ‘It’s really great to receive this award from the industry’s press. The recognition that Y delivers an outstanding sound reflects the enthusiasm we see across markets for this remarkable system. Our commitment to provide users with flexible, high quality systems, realizes many everyday benefits: Y-Series is a great example of that.”
