Virtually Verdi – a Triple Acoustic Shell is deployed with d&b Soundscape.
World-famous conductor Riccardo Muti recently welcomed a fresh crop of budding conductors for the seventh edition of the Riccardo Muti Italian Opera Academy in Milan. The masterclasses, organised in collaboration with the Prada Foundation, aretailored to young conductors and opera coaches from all over the world. Taking place at the Deposito Hall - the Foundation’sMilan premises – audiences could attend the piano introduction of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Nabucco with Muti as well as rehearsals with singers and an orchestra, and finally, on 14-15 December, the live concerts of the opera; the first conducted by Muti, and the second - by the young conductors.
The concerts utilised a sound object-based system through the use of d&b audiotechnik’s Soundscape, with five DS100 signal engines, the company’s network-controlled, Dante- enabled DSP platform. The live performances featured three virtual acoustic shells: one for the 65-piece Luigi Cherubini Youth Orchestra and a smallershell for each of the two chorus sections.
